Dr. Rafael Rafols

Dr. Rafael Rafols has been practicing medicine since 2006 in the Rio Grande Valley. He completed his training in Family Medicine in 2009 and became board certified in Family Medicine while working as a Hospitalist Physician. While working as a Hospital Doctor, he developed a passion for the field of wound care after identifying great need in the community for a dedicated Wound Specialist. He founded Wound Management, DBA in 2011 to better serve the needs of the community.  

Dr. Rafols became the first physician in the RGV to obtain board certification in the field of wound care by the American Board of Wound Healing, obtaining the recognition of Certified Wound Specialist Physician or (CWSP) in 2011. Since then, he has dedicated his life to the field of wound care and has become an internationally recognized wound care specialist.  

Dr. Rafols has participated in multiple symposiums and has spoken at national conferences in the field of wound care. He has served as a Board Member for the American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA), the American College of Hyperbaric Medicne (ABWH) and has done consulting for multiple wound care companies, including Convatec, Inc. , KCI, Kerecis, Smith and Nephew among others. He also participated in multiple clinical trials and has been published in the prestigious Wounds Journal for research devoted to the advancement of wound healing.  

Dr. Rafols is also is the only certified Hyperbaric doctor in the Rio Grande Valley, having obtained certifications as a Hyperbaric Technician in 2012 and Certification by the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine in 2016. In 2017, Dr. Rafols was recognized as a Fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association or APWCA.

Daniel Tamez, PA-C, is a Rio Grande Valley native. He completed his undergraduate studies in Pre-Med and Biochemistry at The University of Texas Pan American and his graduate studies in Public Health and Management at Texas A& M University."My passion for the advancement of palliative care allowed me to continue my higher education completing a Doctor of Science degree from A.T. Still University, School of Medicine with a defended dissertation on the importance of early palliative care interventions."
